Two Useful GIMP Plugins

Save for Web

Save for Web gives you more control over the file size and quality of photos uploaded to your website. The window shows you a preview and the file size of the exported file. File export types include JPEG, PNG-24, PNG-8, GIF and JPEG2000. Each type has its own size and quality options such as compression quality, number or colors, resizing and cropping.

Layer Effects

Layer Effects is a series of scripts that create these effects:

• Drop Shadow
• Inner Shadow
• Outer Glow
• Inner Glow
• Bevel and Emboss
• Satin
• Color Overlay
• Gradient Overlay
• Pattern Overlay
• Stroke

Effects can be applied to a separate layer or merged into the active layer. For separate layers, the plugin makes use of layer groups. The effect layers are automatically grouped with the original layer.

With the Python version, you can preview the effect by checking the “preview” box (recommended).
